What to enjoy at Wild Coast Secrets
Wild Coast Secrets is located a short distance from Mdumbi beach (40min walk/drive) and has one of the most spectacular views in the area! From your patio you literally have 270 degrees of seaview. The waves are often littered with dolphins catching the surf and the whales literally come here to calf and can be seen frolicking in large pods from June to October and also throughout the year - you can literally sit for hours watching them! Activities: Explore the magic of the multiple ‘secret’ beaches, hike to Mdumbi, go kayaking, cycling, off-road biking, boating, fishing or buy fresh seafood from the locals at affordable prices and enjoy a real Wild Coast braai with this incredible view. Nearby popular attractions include Mdumbi falls and Secrets beach (300m away) and also Coffee Bay and Hole in the wall (an hour and a half away) Accommodation:
Wild Coast Secrets has two accommodation options: the Main House or the Rondavel.
The Main House has a lovely wrap around veranda, a large open plan living area and sleeps up to 9 people. It has a fully equipped kitchen, an inside toilet and shower, a dining table and living area. There is one bedroom with a Queen bed and two single (or bunk) beds and the living area has three single beds which act as couches during the day. There are braai facilities, bring charcoal. Prices start at R1850 per night for up to four people up to R3850 (R400pp thereafter) for max 9 people. (Minimum length of stay 2 nights).
The Rondavel is a contained accommodation option for a couple or small family. It is one open room with a kitchen, dining table, one Queen bed and two bunk (or single) beds so can accommodate up to 6 guests. There is a lovely little patio with an outside wooden table. The toilet is a separate building with two toilets and two showers. This facility is shared with the property owners. There are braai facilities, bring charcoal. The rondavel costs from R900 min per night for 2 people and then R350ppn up to R2300 per night for 6 people. (2 night minimum stay)
PLEASE NOTE:
-
We are able to accommodate a total of up to 23 people in four units, with additional camping space on special request.
-
Our high season rates are charged at the maximum guests rate, regardless of how many guests stay. (This includes Easter, the whole of December, 1st half of January and school holidays)
-
We also offer an in-house Chef on request. Serge is from Mauritius and cooks up the most delightful seafood fare or anything that tickles your fancy.
Other things to note:
The best way to get around the Wild Coast is to drive yourself around. The roads in the Transkei are not in the best condition but you do not need a 4×4 to get around but it does make it easier especially during the rainy season.
Fuel up and stock up in the city because only basics can be bought locally. Water is precious but sufficient- we are supplied only by rain water catchment. The host on the property, Paul Holloway, will be there to assist during your stay and he has lived in this area for 30 years. The area is incredibly safe and you will have complete privacy during your stay.
